Nicholson separates the surviving historical evidence from speculative associations with Freemasonry, the Holy Grail and space travel: beginning with the Templars’ origins during the Crusades she considers their religious life, their service to Europe’s kings and their commercial and economic activities, up to the order’s dissolution in 1312.
