Distribution

To help you reach your audience, we can list your book on our website, and advertise through our wholesale channel. Unlike many other large book distributors, we only take a minimal fee to cover our administration costs to give you an immediate online platform to sell your book. Indigo Dragon can provide you with either local or global distribution. Local distribution is primarily used by those who are writing books that are specific to Australia, or to a location within Australia. For all other types of books, global distribution is strongly recommended. The benefits of global distribution include:

  • Wider audience reach: A publisher with a global distribution network can help your work reach a wider audience, including readers from different countries and cultures. This can increase the potential impact and reach of your work, and help you build a broader following.
  • Better sales and revenue: Publishers with a global distribution network can help you reach a wider market, which can translate into increased sales and revenue. This can be especially beneficial for authors and publishers who are looking to make a living from their work.
  • Improved visibility and recognition: Publishers with a global distribution network have the resources and connections to promote and market your work on a larger scale. This can lead to improved visibility and recognition for your work, as well as increased opportunities for success.
  • Access to new markets: Working with a publisher with a global distribution network can give you access to new markets and audiences that you may not have otherwise reached. This can be especially beneficial for authors and publishers who are looking to expand their reach and explore new opportunities.
  • Improved quality and standards: Publishers with a global distribution network typically have the resources and expertise to produce high-quality products that meet international standards. This can help ensure that your work is of the highest quality and reaches a wider audience.

In conclusion, unless you are targeting local readers, using a publisher with a global distribution network is essential for the success of a book or other publication in today’s globalized world. This type of publisher can provide authors and publishers with a wider audience reach, increased sales and revenue, improved visibility and recognition, access to new markets, and improved quality and standards. By partnering with a publisher that has a global distribution network, authors and publishers can take their work to the next level and reach new heights of success.

Furthermore, there are significant risks in relying on local distribution for first-time authors as physical stores request a higher wholesale rate than online retailers. Local distribution also locks out potential sales in other countries. Local retailers may also charge for returns (usually at the author’s expense) of unsold products and will not pay an author until the product is sold. As such, the risks with local distribution are much higher, and unless your target market is local, we strongly recommend global/digital distribution for books.

Unlike many other large book distributors, we only take a minimal fee to cover our administration costs and do not aim to profit from this service. For this reason, we only offer our distribution service to authors who have published through our business.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

LIBRARY SERVICES

We can handle the legal deposit submissions to national and state libraries after publication, and submit them for review to library stockists.

ISBN

We arrange ISBNs for you and supply these to both eBooks and printed copies. These ISBNs not only go to our distributors but also to Bowker Thorpes ISBN system.

Amazon & Kindle

If you would like prefer to use Amazon/KDP to publish your book, we can help you with this too. Amazon’s print-on-demand platform makes physical copies of your book available internationally without worrying about expensive international postage costs. When a customer purchases your book, Amazon will print their order at a printing facility in the international location closest to the customer, then post it directly to them. Once your book is finalised and ready to publish, we set up an Amazon KDP account on your behalf and upload the necessary files. There are different ways to distribute Kindle books, but most authors would benefit the most from publishing in a reflowable format to ensure it works on all devices. Image-heavy works are best published in a different form but will not work on all reading devices.

Manuscript Review

Before signing up for our service, we offer an optional manuscript appraisal for a low fee. This fee covers the time it takes for us to read through your material. At this point, we ascertain which services your book requires to become print ready. This is optional advice only; the author is free to decline our recommendations if they choose to do so.
